Fujimoto, M D , M P H , Acting Health Officer <br /> 445 V San Joaquin Street + P O Box 388 + Stockton, CA 95201-0388 o4c�Fp�a�P <br /> (209) 468-3420 <br /> CL <br /> ` r� <br /> 1 <br /> PAUL SOUVA <br /> VALLEY WHOLESALE DRUG <br /> 1401 W FREMONT STREET 1 1911.: <br /> STOCKTON CA 95203 <br /> RE Valley Wholesale Drug SITE CODE 1782 <br /> 1401 W Fremont Street <br /> Stockton, CA <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division <br /> (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Interim Report Covering Results of Soil Contamination <br /> Investigation, Valley Wholesale Drugs" dated January 1995, prepared by William <br /> J Hunter & Associates, for the above referenced site <br /> Table 11 which reports the results of the analyses of the soils samples collected <br /> from the October 21, 1994 excavation, has the results from toluene and ethyl- <br /> benzene reversed A corrected table should be submitted to PHS/EHD <br /> The report states that "According to verbal communication with Margaret Lagorio <br /> of the San Joaquin County EHD, there are no domestic, private, or groundwater <br /> monitoring wells within the zone of influence of this site " When asked about <br /> wells in the area of this site I replied that I was not aware of any wells As <br /> discussed in Appendix A of Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations a survey to <br /> locate any private, municipal, or irrigation wells within 2000 feet of the site <br /> _^ should be conducted The results should be included in the next work plan <br /> submitted for the site <br /> Soil sample results from all sidewall and bottom samples collected after the <br /> second excavation indicate that contaminated soil exists laterally in all <br /> directions as well as vertically Groundwater was entering the excavation at the <br /> time the bottom samples were collected, indicating that groundwater is in contact <br /> with contaminated soil This is an indication that groundwater has probably been <br /> impacted <br /> The drilling of several soil borings will be necessary to collect soil samples <br /> in order to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination <br /> A minimum of three of the soil borings should be converted to monitoring wells <br /> so the groundwater gradient can be determined and the impact to groundwater <br /> investigated A work plan for this investigation should be submitted to PHS/EHD <br /> by April 15, 1995 <br /> If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio at (209) 468-3449 <br /> Donna Heran, RENS, Director <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> :ad <br /> Margaret agorioLSenior REHS DianXMinson, RENS <br /> Site Mitigation Unit supervisor <br /> ML <br /> CVRWQCB - Beth Thayer <br /> c William J Hunter & Associates <br /> A Dmsi"n til Sin loaquin Cuunl% Fie kith C vt Slrtil([� r <br /> RECEIVES L' 1 7 1)s� <br />
