1 <br /> Geolagual Uch*cs lne <br /> Well Abandonment Report Page 4 <br /> Project No 989 2 <br /> August 10,2005 <br /> Category 2 wells were filled with grout via a trenue pipe followed by pressurizing the grout <br /> filled well Approximately 35 psi of pressure was applied to each well for approximately five <br /> ' minutes The pressure cap was removed and the process was repeated if there was more than <br /> three feet of headspace above the grout slurry The upper five feet of the borehole was drilled <br /> out using 8-inch hollow stem augers guided down the center of the well casing via a guide <br /> ' rod attachment on the drill bit The upper five feet was backfilled with clean material The <br /> surface was capped with the appropriate material (i e concrete or asphalt) to match the <br /> surrounding surface conditions <br /> ' Displaced water was captured and placed into properly labeled DOT approved containers <br /> The containers were temporarily stored on-site until disposal was arranged Soil cuttings <br /> from the well abandonment activities were stored in properly labeled DOT approved drums <br /> and temporarily stored on-site until disposal was arranged <br /> ' Approximately 59 3 cubic feet, or 443 9 gallons, of grout was required for the <br /> decomnussioning of the ten wells associated with VWDC The calculations used to estimate <br /> the volume of grout are attached as Table 2 of Appendix A <br /> 3.0 SOIL DISPOSAL <br /> On July 28, 2005, Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services removed six (6) drums of soil <br /> cuttings from the VWDC property The drums were transported to Forward Incorporated <br /> ' Landfill at 9999 South Austin Road, Manteca, California for disposal The drums were <br /> accepted by the landfill under manifest # 75647 The scale ticket and manifest are included <br /> as Appendix B <br /> 4.0 SCHEDULE & REPORTING <br /> ' The information gathered during this phase of work is presented in this report in an effort to <br /> meet the requirements of obtaining a "No Further Action Letter" Dr Ray Kablanow, a <br /> ' registered professional geologist, will supervise the project Copies of the report will be <br /> forwarded to both the appropriate County and State regulatory agencies (SJCEHD and <br /> CRWQCB) <br />
