10 July 2007
AGE-NC ProIect No, 06-1524
Page 2 of 5
valley(Olmsted and Davis, 1961);the site itself is located on unconsolidated and semi-consolidated
alluvium. lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and
Geology, 1977). Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely
defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
The Modesto. Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin (Basin 5-22). This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River. The nearest
surface water feature in the vicinity of the subject property is the Stockton Deep Water Channel..
approximately '/smile toward the south.
The prevailing ground water flow direction in Stockton generally ranges from northeast to east, but
this may be greatly modified by local recharge and discharge patterns.Ground water monitoring data
taken at several nearby sites in 4`h Quarter 2006 showed shallow groundwater at 10 to 14 feet below
surface grade (bsg) and with a general flow direction towards the northeast. Ground water is
considered to be of beneficial use and is utilized for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes.
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
It is our understanding that one 1,000-gallon leaded gasoline underground storage tank (UST) was
removed without permit in May 1990. Subsequently, the UST was permitted and the removal was
brought into compliance. It does not appear that confirmation soil sampling was performed at the
time of removal.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance a single soil borings near the former UST for collection of soil and grab
ground water samples. The investigation will included the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Grab ground water and/or soil sample collection and analysis;
• Report preparation
The site assessment tasks are discussed below.
Advancer!GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
