The results of the laboratory analyses of
the ground water grab samples collected at 62 to 65 feet below ground surface (bgs) in
HP-1 and HP-2 indicates that no total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), or
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) or 1, 2-dicholoroethane (DCA) was
detected. This data supports conclusions that the petroleum contamination in the
ground water is laterally defined.
Conclusions and recommendations included in the SCM stated that a generally
decreasing TPHg and DCA concentration trend over time is evident. Although the trend
is not clearly obvious, the data does support the conclusion that the plume is stable and
not migrating deeper or outward. With no active sensitive receptors located within 2000
feet of the site and the recommendation that no remediation is required, Horizon
Environmental Inc has requested that a "no further action" status be granted to the site
as a low-risk closure.
The EHD concurs that the plume is stable and currently poses no threat to the public or
the beneficial use of the ground water. In order to evaluate if the residual contamination
poses a vapor inhalation threat to the occupants of the building/store, a soil vapor
intrusion evaluation is required.
