Fremont Street RO#: 00428
Stockton, CA. 95205 CUF#: 14862
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Letter
Work Plan for Additional Ground Water Investigation (Plan) dated April 10, 2008 as
prepared by Horizon Environmental Inc., and has the following comments.
The Plan proposes the installation of two soil borings and hydro punch ground water
sampling borings to three feet below current depth to ground water (approximately 47
feet below ground surface, bgs). Ground water samples are to be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total
xylenes, the five fuel oxygenates methyl-t-butyl ether (MtBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl-t-butyl ether (EtBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-Dichloroethane (DCA),
and 1 ,2 Dibromoethane (EDB) by EPA Method 8260B. The two borings, "HP-1" and
"HP-2" are proposed to be installed onsite at the extreme south and southwest edge of
the parcel.
The Plan can be considered adequate and necessary [H&S code 25296(c)(3)] with the
following conditions included in the fieldwork:
• Both grab ground water samples are to be collected from the sand unit noted to
be laterally continuous onsite at 55' bgs and,
• Detections of 1,2-DCA in either sample will require a 'step-out' investigation
further to the south and/or southwest.
If you have any questions, please contact Michael. lnfurna, Senior Registered
Environmental Health Specialist, at (209) 468-3454.
