Fremont St. RO#: 0000428
Stockton, CA. 95205
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
Results of Additional Subsurface Investigation dated September 23, 2005 as
submitted by your consultant, Horizon Environmental Inc and has the following
comments.
The constituent of concern at this site is 1,2-DCA in the ground water in the area
of monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3. The most recent water sample
data, August 2005, indicates that 1,2-DCA is present in the first water bearing
zone beneath the site with concentrations as high as 120 ug/l.
The ground water direction during this sampling event was to the north-
northwest. Based on the levels of contaminants present and the direction of
groundwater flow, the 1,2-DCA contaminant plume is not defined in the northwest
quadrant and may be moving in the area between the current monitoring wells.
In order to determine the extent of the dissolved 1,2-DCA contaminant plume in
this area EHD requires a monitoring well be installed. EHD recommends that
this well be installed between the former UST and the current UST pits and
constructed with the screen interval in the first water bearing zone.
Only soil boring, SB-1, was installed to investigate the vertical extent of 1,2-DCA
in the former UST pit. Only one grab ground water sample was collected from
this boring in December 2002. The analytical results of the sample collected
from 100 feet below ground surface (bgs) showed that 1,2-DCA was less than 0.5
ug/l.
