HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
iSpecialists in Site Assessment Remedial testing Design and Operation
August 25, 2003
Mr Mike Karvelot
Quik Stop Markets Inc
4567 Enterprise Street
Fremont, California 94538
Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Third Quarter 2003
Quik Stop Station No 039
2285 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California
Mr Karvelot
Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents third
quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County as
shown on Figure 1 There are currently three groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1
through MW-3) as shown on Figure 2
. Groundwater Monitoring
Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Horizon on August 7, 2003
according to Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) Monitoring
activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater from
the wells, collection of groundwater samples, disposal of purge water, and preparation
and delivery of the samples to the analytical laboratory
The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing
(TOC) in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 The groundwater physical parameters
conductivity, pH and temperature were monitored with field instrumentation during the
purging process The visual characteristics of turbidity and presence of free product or
sheen if any, and the obvious olfactory characteristics of the groundwater were also noted
during the purging process Field groundwater level and purge data were recorded on
Monitoring Well Data sheets (Attachment B)
Groundwater samples were collected from groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through
MW-3 and were submitted under chain-of-custody (COC) documentation, to Kiff
Analytical LLC (Kiff), a California Department of Health Services-certified analytical
laboratory (ELAP No 2236) located in Davis, California The samples were analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHg), the volatile aromatic compounds
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), the fuel oxygenates, methyl-t-
butyl ether (MTBE), diisopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl-t-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-arnyl
5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 - EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 - (916) 939-2170 - FAX (916) 939-2172
PO Box 5283 9 Bakersfield CA 93388 - (661) 589-8389 9 FAX (661) 589-1456
