1 <br /> HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment, Remedial Testing, Design and Operation <br /> • April 30, 2001 <br /> Mr Mike Karvelot <br /> Quik Stop Markets Inc <br /> 4567 Enterprise Street <br /> Fremont, California 94538 <br /> Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> First Quarter 2001 <br /> Quik Stop Station No 039 <br /> 2285 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Karvelot <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this quarterly monitoring report which <br /> documents the first quarter 2001 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San <br /> Joaquin County as shown on Figure 1 There are currently three groundwater monitoring <br /> wells (MW-1 through MW-3) as shown on Figure 2 <br /> Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Horizon on March 26, 2001 according <br /> to Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) Monitoring activities included <br /> measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater from the wells, collection of <br /> groundwater samples, disposal of purge water, and preparation and delivery of the samples to <br /> the analytical laboratory <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing (TOC) <br /> in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 Field groundwater level data were recorded on <br /> Monitoring Well Data sheets (Attachment B) <br /> Field groundwater monitoring well purge data were recorded on Horizon Monitoring Well <br /> Data sheets The physical parameters conductivity, pH and temperature were monitored with <br /> field instrumentation during the purging process The visual characteristics of turbidity and <br /> presence of free product or sheen, and the obvious olfactory characteristics of the groundwater <br /> were also noted during the purging process <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through <br /> MW-3 Groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody (COC) documentation, <br /> to Kiff Analytical LLC (Kifo, a California Department of Health Services-certified analytical <br /> laboratory (ELAP No 2236) located in Davis, California The samples were analyzed for <br /> total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), the volatile aromatic compounds benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), and the seven fuel oxygenates methyl-tert- <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 .
