,_.__ALAHORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing Design and Operation <br /> February 17, 1999 <br /> Mr Mike Karvelot <br /> Quik Stop Markets Inc <br /> 4567 Enterprise Street <br /> Fremont, California 94538 <br /> Subject Tank Closure Report <br /> Quik Stop Station No 039 <br /> 2285 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Karvelot <br /> As requested, Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) conducted soil sampling activities and <br /> environmental oversight related to underground storage tank (UST) removal operations at <br /> the above-referenced site (see Figure 1) Tasks included being present on the site to observe <br /> removal of the existing USTs, collecting native soil samples as required by the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD), submitting <br /> soil samples to a State-certified laboratory for the requested analyses, and the preparation of <br /> this Tank Closure Report <br /> The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate for the presence of gasoline fuel <br /> hydrocarbons in the soil during UST removal activities Environmental field work was <br /> conducted on November 12, 1998 utilizing Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (included <br /> as Attachment A), and in accordance with the Horizon Site Safety Plan dated November 9, <br /> 1998 UST removal and soil excavation were performed by Walton Engineering (Walton) of <br /> West Sacramento, California <br /> UST Removal and Sampling Activities <br /> The location of the Quik Stop market building, two former USTs, the former dispenser <br /> island, and other pertinent site features are shown on the Site Plan (Figure 2) USTs T-1 and <br /> T-2 (from south to north), were both of single-walled, steel construction with 10,000-gallon <br /> capacities, and located in the middle area of the station property Tank T-1 was reportedly <br /> used to store leaded gasoline and tank T-2 was reportedly used to store unleaded gasoline <br /> The fill pipes and pump turbines were both located on the east ends of the former USTs The <br /> pump dispenser island was located 20 feet east of the eastern ends of the two USTs <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 • El Dorado Hills,CA 95762 • (916)939-2170 • FAX(916)939-2172 <br /> PO Box 5283 9 Bakersfield CA 93388 • (805)589-5389 • FAX(805)589-1456 <br />
