Quik Stop Station No 039 Februa- 17 1999
Stockton,California Tank C10Slire Reuort
gasoline (TPHg) by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Methods 8015 or 8260B, the
gasoline constituents benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA
Methods 8020 or 826013, and the five oxygenated fuel additive compounds methyl tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary
amyl methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary butanol (TBA) by modified EPA Method 8260B,
and Total Lead on the T-1 samples by EPA Method 6010 As requested by the SJC
PHS/EHD, the unidentified substance from the tank observation well was submitted for
"Waste Oil Protocol 8010", and was analyzed by EPA Methods 8015, 826013, and 5520E+F
The laboratory results are summarized in Table I Copies of the laboratory and COC reports
are included in Attachment C
Summary
Former USTs Excavation Analytical results of soil samples collected from beneath the
two former USTs indicated the following
• TPHg and BTEX There were no detectable concentrations of TPHg (less than
1 0 parts per million [ppm]), and only low concentrations of BTEX detected in the
native soils beneath the southern end of UST T-1 at a depth of approximately 13 feet
(0 020 ppm xylenes)
• Oxygenates A low concentration of the fuel oxygenate TBA was detected in the
native soils beneath the south end of former UST T-1 at a depth of approximately 13
feet (0 21 ppm) No detectable concentrations of the fuel oxygenates MTBE (less
than 0 0050 ppm), DIPE (less than 0 0050 ppm), ETBE (less than 0 0050 ppm), and
TAME (less than 0 0050 ppm), were present in any of the four tank pit soil samples
• Total Lead A low concentration of total lead of 5 8 ppm was detected ,,_ the
native soils beneath former UST T-1 This concentration is considered to be within
background levels normally found in the native soils in the vicinity of the site
Dispenser Islands• Analytical results of soil samples collected from approximately three
feet beneath the two former dispenser islands indicated detectable concentrations of TPHg
beneath the south dispenser, D-1, (440 ppm) and less than 1 0 ppm beneath the north
dispenser, D-2 Low concentrations of BTEX were detected in the samples collected from
beneath dispenser D-1 (0 34 ppm toluene and 6 6 ppm xylenes), and beneath dispenser D-2
(0 0082 ppm benzene, 0 017 ppm toluene, and 0 0089 ppm xylenes) No detectable
concentrations of the fuel oxygenates MTBE, DIPS, ETBE, TAME, TBA, methanol, or
ethanol were present below either dispenser A low concentration of total lead of 13 pprn
was detected in the native soils beneath former dispenser D-1
Tank Observation Well- Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) were detected as
• gasoline (1 3 ppm TPHg) and motor oil (20,000 ppm TPHmo) Oil and Grease was d-%cted
7039-11 to 3 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC
