♦..d
From the President... -w
At BioLogic, we believe that virtually every site regardless of what phase it is in or the
contaminant type and concentrations present can be considered a candidate for bioremedia-
tion. As such, an essential prerequisite to this or any site mitigation option is the collection
and appropriate evaluation of site-specific data. There is, however, very little technical
guidance available to the bioremediation practitioner for determining the host of factors
which contribute to and influence bioremedial efficacy and applicability. The support that is
available is often generalized and does not address site-specific conditions. Consequently,
those not accurately trained in environmental bioremediation or are unaware of the sources
available to them, often prematurely opt for alternative remedial considerations. Many prac-
titioners that proclaim to "do" bioremediation often have not been adequately trained in bio-
technical matters, and frequently may overlook critical site-specific criteria and determine the
applicability of a bioremedial approach without truly understanding its attributes and limita-
tions.
History cannot be ignored-for a variety of reasons, bioremedial applications have re-
sulted in as many project failures as successes primarily due to substandard implementation
practices, and/or the mistaken belief that bioremedial compatibility is a omnipresent process.
Consider this question: can you afford the risk of a project failure as the result of poor
adherence to process performance criteria—when a cost-effective avenue for technical
accuracy is available to you? Clearly, with millions of dollars often at stake, the competency
of a bioremediation practitioner should not be minimized.
At BioLogic, our, services are as diversified as the needs of our clients, in providing as
much or as few of our services as they deem necessary through every aspect of a project,
supported by laboratory testing that ensures site-specific contributing factors are considered
and/or evaluated in determining not only bioremedial feasibility, but ensuring that the myriad
of interrelated and ever-changing environmental, regulatory, and economic criteria are met in
achieving overall project success. BioLogic offers to a project the levels of expertise required
in evaluating bioremedial processes—alleviating the need for our clients to commit valuable
time and resources in acquiring the biotechnical training and experience necessary to achieve_
project success.
We hope you will allow us to provide your company with `logical approaches and
solutions" to your environmental bioremediation needs. With Biologic, you can count on
not beingdisappointed!
Sincerely,
Marty Martinovich, President
BioLogic Biotechnical Laboratory and Consulting Services
