(ATC) on behalf of the
above referenced site and has the following comments.
The report documents the installation of three monitoring wells that took place in
December 1999, the development of the new wells, and the quarterly groundwater
sampling event that took place on December 22, 1999.
Soil analytical data from this current work is consistent with previous data in indicating
that petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant impact to soil has occurred to approximately
50-feet below surface grade (bsg), and that it appears to attenuate by 65-feet bsg. The
lateral extent of the soil contamination at depth is defined to the north-east and the
south-east, but remains undefined to the west and south-west. Soil data directly north of
the source area extended to 30-feet bsg only. Analytical results from the groundwater
sampling event showed consistent levels of contaminant impact to MW-1, located in the
former tank pit area, and that the plume is not defined to the south-west (MW-2).
Vertical definition of the groundwater plume has not been made.
In correspondence dated March 4, 1999, PHSIEHD requested that quarterly
groundwater monitoring be initiated at this site. Routine quarterly monitoring of all wells
on site will provide consistent data on the water quality and gradient flow direction, and
should continue until directed otherwise by PHSIEHD. Please have the next quarterly
groundwater monitoring event scheduled as soon as possible.
