SITE CODE: 1120
2804 EAST FREMONT STREET
STOCKTON CA 95205
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the "Summary Report of Additional Subsurface Investigation", dated
January 8, 1999, which was prepared by ATC Associates, Inc. for the above
referenced site and has the following comments for your consideration and action.
The report details the work that was done at the site on Sept. 25, 1998 to further
evaluate the vertical extent of hydrocarbon contamination in soil and possible impact of
contamination to ground water. One soil boring was advanced by hollow stem auger to
approximately 65 feet below surface grade (bsg) and completed as a ground water
monitoring well. During the drilling, soil samples for analysis were collected every five
feet. The well was developed and a ground water sample collected on Sept. 28, 1998.
Analytical results from the soil samples evidence that hydrocarbon contamination
extends to at least 45 feet bsg, and appears to attenuate by 65 feet bsg. No oxygenate
fuel additives were reported in any soil samples analyzed, but the method detection
limits used were very elevated. Analytical results from the water sample evidence that
contaminant impact to groundwater has occurred.
Please initiate quarterly groundwater monitoring at this site. Following receipt of data
from the monitoring events, further evaluation of the site can be made.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director _
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, RENS Margareagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Mark List, CVRWQCB
Jeanne Homsey, ATC Associates, Inc.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
