The soil sample which was collected at approximately 13 feet below
ground surface on February 20, 1987, evidenced the following concentrations (noted in ppm):
Benzene Toluene Xylene EDB Gasoline Diesel Kerosene Oil
0.13 2.3 9.7 <.01 131 120 1,400 <20
Based on seasonal high groundwater in the area of the site, 45 feet below ground surface,
additional investigation will be necessary to determine the extent of the contamination and the
potential threat which the remaining contamiantion poses to groundwater.
Please submit a work plan by June 22, 1997 that includes a proposal for a minimum three soil
borings, installed using either hollow stem auger drilling or push-point technology, to
determine the vertical and horizontal extent of the contamiantion that has been evidenced. As
we discussed during the April 15, 1997 meeting it will not be necessary to excavate the former
tank area to obtain this preliminary information.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
