A & A TOOL RENTALS <br /> 2911 Fast Fremont Street, Stoclaon, California <br /> Phase II Report of Kndings, <br /> Tank and Line Area Re-Excavation <br /> 1.0 SITE HISTORY <br /> On April 1, 1992, two (2) underground storage tanks were removed from A & A '1"00l <br /> _ Rentals located at 2911 East. Fremont Street, in Stockton, California. Tank r2 was a <br /> 1,000 gallon diesel tank and Tank#S vias a IOW gallon kerosene tank. <br /> Contaminati.on was found at the north end of the diesel tank and glso at the piping 92 <br /> location.!See Figure 2 for location of piping and Appendix B for laboratory data. All' <br /> other samples taken were "none detected" for all coralK),aEids, at the time of the tank <br /> removal. <br /> 2.0 SUMMARY Off'FINDINGS <br /> On August. 31, 1992, WHF Environmental. Consultants, Inc:, submitted a wofxplan <br /> t <br /> requesting a site investigation using a drill rig, and taldng soil borings. On. October 7, <br /> L® 1992, an amended workplan for the site was submitted to the San Joaquin County <br /> Department of Health Se:rices, Environmental Health .Division. The amended work <br /> plan requested re-excavation be allowed instead of soil borings. .Permission was <br /> granted, and on October 8, 1992, re--excavation of the former lank and fuel line areas <br /> was performed. <br /> T <br /> On site was Ross Grunwald, registered geologist, with VVHr F Environmental <br /> Consultants, lnc., and Mr. Steve Schneider with the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department Oversight 'Program. Re-excavation was <br /> accomplished using an excavator. The former tank area was excavated to a depth of <br /> seventeen feet eight inches (17' 8") in the Northwest wall of the former excavation. In <br /> addition, the entire fuel line trench was re-excavated, as it was discovered that <br /> contaminated soils from the previous excavation work was used as backfill in the <br /> trench. Using a photo ionization. detector, samples were pre-screened on site, prior to <br /> obtaining verification samples. <br />
