f
STATE OF CALIFOpNIA
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD—
GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN,Governor
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
3443 ROUTIER ROAD .
SACRAMENTO,CA 96827-3098
13 September 1989
Ms. Diane Hinson
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County
Department of Public Health Services
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
CHEVRON SERVICE STATION, 3246 EAST FREMONT STREET, STOCKTON, QUARTERLY
MONITORING REPORT
We have reviewed the 12 June 1989 "Quarterly Monitoring Report" for this site,
prepared by EA Engineering Science and Technology, Inc. The report includes
the analytical results for samples recently obtained from three of the
existing on-site wells. Although the holding times for these samples were
exceeded by the analyzing laboratory, followup samples were obtained and the
results were similar to those reported. Based on these results, the
contamination does not appear to have migrated to the boundaries of the site.
Ground water elevations in this area of Stockton have declined below the
screened intervals of several of the existing on-site wells. This decline in
ground water elevations is apparently a trend. Therefore we do not anticipate
that the dry wells will be able to be sampled in the near future. Although
the contaminants apparently have not migrated off site, significant levels of
contamination were previously detected in many of the wells which are now dry.
We recommend installation of additional monitoring wells to replace some of
the dry monitoring wells. These wells are needed to provide information
necessary for the development of an appropriate remedial action plan.
If you should have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5731.
THOMAS D. PELTIER
Engineering Geologist
TDP/tdp
