Darrell Hovander
Chevron USA, Inc .
2 Annabel bane , Suite 200
San Ramon , CA 94583
RE : Chevron Service Station No . 7780
Stockton , California
Dear Mr , Hovander :
Enclosed are laboratory results of the soil samples
collected from the material excavated from the tank pit and
information on well locations within one mile of the former
Chevron Service Station No . 7780 , located at 3246 East Fremont
Street , Stockton , California .
Soil samples were obtained at approximately five feet below
the soil pile surface with a hand operated auger . The samples
were collected at six points from the pile and composited to form
two samples for laboratory analysis . These were sealed , capped,
packed on ice in an insulated cooler and transported under
chain-of-custody to GT Environmental Laboratories for analysis .
The two composite samples were analyzed for total hydrocarbons
(THC ) , and benzene , toluene , and xylene (BTX) using EPA methods
5030 , 8020 , and 8015 . Results from the soils analyzed recorded
no concentration of THC or BTX above the analysis method
detection limit of 0 . 5 parts per million (ppm) ( see Appendix I ,
Laboratory Analysis Results ) .
A survey of water wells located within a one-mile radius of
the site was performed using available data collected from the
California Department of Water Resources . Review of this
information indicates that within a one-mile radius of the site ,
there are three municipal wells and eleven domestic wells . The
closest well is a domestic well which is located approximately
1000 feet north and down gradient of the site . The closest
municipal well is located approximately 2500 feet to the east and
cross gradient of the site (see Figure 1 , Well Location map) .
O(f'ico thrmighrnrt the U.S., Canada and Overseas
Westem offices in:Ornmcord.
