ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT REPORT
FORMER CHEVRON SERVICE STATION 9-7780
3246 EAST FREMONT STREET
STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report summarizes environmental assessment work conducted at the former Chevron
service station 9-7780,located at 3246 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California(Figure 1,Appendix
A). The work included drilling one soil boring, soil sampling, laboratory analyses, and report
preparation. The scope of work was designed to fulfill the reporting requirements of the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD?,and the California Regional Water Quality Control
Board, Central Valley Region (CnW0CB-CVRI-
2.0 BACKGROUND
Chevron service station 9-7780 dispensed gasoline from three underground storage tanks. All
p underground tanks, piping and pumps have been removed and the structures demolished.
2
The three gasoline underground fuel storage tanks (USTs) and the used oil UST were removed
and soil samples were collected from the bottom of the excavation by Blaine Tech Services in 1987.
Three groundwater monitoring wells were installed and sampled in the former UST area by
Groundwater Technology in March 1987. Water supply wells near the site were sampled August 1987
by EA Engineering. Four additional monitoring wells were installed in February 1988 by EA
Engineering. Two additional monitoring wells were installed by EA Engineering in September 1990
after the water levels dropped below the depth of the existing wells. Alton Geoscience submitted a
quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling report to Chevron in June 1991.
2.1 QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING
The groundwater beneath the site was monitored and sampled at quarterly intervals from
January 1989 to September 1990; however, during this time several of the monitoring wells went dry
due to the current drought. l
GROUNDWATER
1063MMA" ,; TECHNn!,OGY.INC.
