I November 2005
AGE.-NC Project No. 97-0327
Page 5 of 8
4.0. SCOPE OF WORK
To assess the vertical and lateral extent of 1,2-DCA-impacted ground water at the site, completion
of the following tasks is required:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• CPT drilling and sample collection;
• Laboratory analysis of samples;
• Preparation of a report of findings.
4.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
A site assessment boring permit will be obtained from the EHD for all on-site and off-site boring
locations and encroachment permits will be obtained from the City of Stockton Public Work
Department.An update to the health and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance
with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual .for Hazardous Waste Site Activities
(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).Prior to mobilization,the area of excavation will be clearly
marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert,
4.2. CPT DRILLING AND SAMPLE COLLECTION
Utilizing a 25-ton truck-mounted CPT drill rig equipped with 13/a-inch diameter hollow-stem rods.
AGE proposes to advance two CPT soil borings to help define the vertical and lateral extent of 1,2-
DCA-impacted ground water.AGE proposes to advance CPT soil borings to depths of approximately
100 feet below surface grade (bsg) for sampling based on 1,2-DCA detected in monitoring wells
MW-1,MW-2 and MW-4(screened between 48 and 70 feet bsg). The soil borings will be advanced
at the following locations (Figure 3):
• CPT boring no. 1 (CPT-1) will be located approximately 60 to 80 feet southwe4of
MW-4 (dependant on accessibility) to define the lateral and vertical extent of 1,2-
DCA-impacted ground water near the south-southwest suction of the site;
• CPT boring no.2(CPT-2)will be located approximately 30 to 50 feet west-northwest
of MW-l(dependant on accessibility) to define the vertical extent of 1,2-DCA-
impacted ground water at the site.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
