Field procedures for soil sample collection is presented in Section 3.2.; selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents: • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d respectively) in accordance with EPA Methods 8015 Modified/5030/3550; • Volatile aromatic compounds - benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and • Methanol, ethanol, 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide (EDB), tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether (ETBE), tert amyl methyl ether (TAME) and MTBE by EPA Method 8260 Modified. Laboratory reports for the soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/duality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with findings and recommendations. Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a microbiological laboratory for microbial enumeration and physicochemical characteristics; selected soil samples may also be analyzed for intrinsic permeability, moisture content, porosity and total organic carbon (TOC) in accordance with the appropriate EPA or ASTM methods. Laboratory reports for soil analysis and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with findings and recommendations. 2.3. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND DEVELOPMENT The proposed soil boring MW-4 will be completed as a 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring well. Following well installation, the well will be developed to maximize water flow and minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing. Procedures for well installation and development are presented in Sections 3.1 and 3.2, respectively. 2.4. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Ground water monitoring and sampling of the newly installed ground water monitoring well will be conducted on a quarterly basis unless an alternate schedule or suspension of monitoring is approved by the PHS-EHD. Ground water monitoring activities will include recording depth to ground water measurements and collection of ground water samples.
