07 August 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
a minimum depth of 40 feet bsg. However, if field indications suggest that petroleum
hydrocarbon impacted soil and/or ground water are located at depths greater than 40 feet bsg,
then probe borings will be advanced until there are no field indications of petroleum
hydrocarbons. Furthermore, additional soil probe borings may be required to fully define
the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water. Proposed
soil probe boring locations are depicted on Figure 2.
5. Decontaminate sampling equipment in an Alconox solution and rinse with water prior to
each sampling run.
6. Obtain soil samples at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg; at least one soil probe boring
will be continuously sampled utilizing a 48-inch Geoprobe macro-core sampler. Samples will
be collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly pre-loaded with four 1.125-inch by
6-inch brass sleeves.
7. Preserve soil samples in the second brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets,
capping, and sealing with tape.
8. Document samples on a chain-of-custody form.
9. Store samples in a chilled container and transport to a State-certified laboratory for analysis
of TPH-g,TPH-d, BTE&X, MTBE, DIPE,TAME,ETBE and TBA in accordance with EPA
methods 8015m, 8020 and 8260.
10. Monitor soil sample duplicates for the presence of organic vapor using a photo-ionization
detector(PID) pre-calibrated to isobutylene.
11. Log soil sample duplicates in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.
12. Backfill each probe boring to surface grade utilizing a tremie pipe and Portland type II
cement.
4.2. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of probing, sampling and laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
summarizing results of the work performed. The report will include recommendations for additional
investigation or remediation, if necessary. The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS-EHD
and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
Advanced GcoEn%ironmental,Inc.
