21 Au
gust 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
! ' changes of recharge/discharge of the local ground water couldgreatly modify ground water
flow direction.
j- Concentrations of dissolved TPH-g were just detectable in samples from wells MW-1 and
! ' MW-2 in the February 2000 monitoring event and were not detected during the May 2000
monitoring event indicating shifting of the dissolved TPH-g plume margin.
Minor concentrations of dissolved TPH-d and TBA were detected in samples from wells
MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 and dissolved MTBE detected from wells MWA and MW-2
indicating that there is only minor impact to ground water in the area assessed (Figure 4).
j'
• The elevated petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations detected in a grab ground water sample
collected from soil boring P-8 on 21 June 1999 suggest that P-8 may be near the dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbon "core area"of the plume.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' • Based upon data collected from the site in May 2000, AGE recommends:
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring of wells MWA, MW-2 and MW-3 for the
' remainder of the year; following four consecutive ground water monitoring events,AGE will
make a recommendation to the PHS-EHD to re-evaluate the ground water monitoring
program, if warranted. The next two ground water monitoring events are tentatively
scheduled for August and November 2000.
Submit one ground water monitoring well sample to a microbiological laboratory for
microbial enumeration and physicochemical analysis to examine natural attenuation of
' petroleum hydrocarbons in ground water at the site.
• A search for all potential ground water receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of the site.
Installation of one ground water monitoring well downgradient of soil boring P-8 to assess
the elevated petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations detected in P-8 on 21 June 1999; the well
should be installed approximately 60 to 70 feet south-southwest of monitoring well MW-2.
6.0. LIMITATIONS. . _
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
' environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based upon
. analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
Advanced GeoEnviron _ 1 '
mental,Ine.
