S EC0R
Mr. Michael Infurna
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department -
:March 27, 2007
Page 3 of 8
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of the proposed scope of work are: 1) to investigate-for the presence of
unknown underground storage tanks _(USTs) or .relatedproduct lines. in the area of
previous investigation; 2) to further delineate the extent and magnitude of petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts to soil; and 3) to determine if shallow groundwater has been
,affected.
J
The.work will be completed using a phased approach. First, SECOR will complete a
geophysical survey to confirm the presence or absence of USTs or related piping which
.may be responsible for petroleum hydrocarbon impacts observed in soils. The survey
will have the additional benefit of identifying utility lines in the work area,and:confirming
that proposed soil boring -locations are free of subsurface lutilities. Then, SECOR will
advance soil borings for collection of soil and' grab groundwater samples. If obvious
chemical impact to groundwater, is observed (such as free-phase product, strong odor,
or impacted soils in contact with groundwater), SECOR`will install, develop,and survey
three groundwater'monitoring wells:
The scope of work is summarized below by task:
Task 1 - Preliminary activities;
Task 2—Geophysical survey and utility clearance;
Task 3 —Soil and groundwater investigation; and
Optional Task 4— Installation of groundwater monitoring wells and related tasks.
These work tasks are discussed in detail in the following sections.
Task 1 — Preliminary Activities
'SECOR will obtain a drilling permit from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD), and coordinate the field work.with SJCEHD staff. In order to
streamline completion-of the work, the permit will assume the installation of soil borings
and groundwater monitoring wells, although. wells may not :be installed. SECOR will
update the Site-specific health and safety. plan (HASP) to include the proposed scope of
work and associated physical,and chemical~hazards: SECOR will.mark the work area in
white paint and notify Underground Service Alert at least 48_hours before drilling.
;i:\PG&E\French Camp\additional 2007 investigation\work plan\2007 Investigation Work Plan_Final.doc March 27;2007
Project No.050T.50351.01
