Webber Ave., Third floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Work Plan for Limited Immediate Corrective Action at Ace Tomato
Facility Located at 2771 E. French Camp Road in Manteca, California.
Dear Ms. McCartney,
Wright Environmental Services, Inc. (Wright) has prepared this work plan for
review by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) to
approve this work to remove contaminated soil discovered during the course of
an upgrade to Underground Fuel Tanks at the Ace Tomato site. This proposed
work plan is provided as a formality following conversations between EHD and
Wright staff. Wright submits this request on behalf of Ace Tomato (responsible
party) for the above referenced site.
Summary
Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and tert-Butanol were detected in soil beneath the
Regular Unleaded Fill Bucket at levels of 2,100 ppb and 14,500 ppb respectively,
and in the soil beneath the Regular Unleaded Dispenser at levels of 54 ppb of
MTBE only. Gasoline and BTEX were detected in stockpile samples but were not
detected beneath the Regular Unleaded Fill Bucket oaf' Dispenser. No detectable
levels were found beneath the Diesel Fill Bucket or the Diesel Dispenser. Based
upon observations during fueling system upgrades, Wright attributes this residual
MTBE and tert-Butanol located in vadose soils of the tank pit to have occurred
as the result of minimal leakage from the previously existing fill bucket and
dispenser piping.
Wright concludes that limited hand excavation of accessible contaminated soils
from around the Regular Unleaded Dispenser and Fill Bucket area continues to
be the most cost effective and feasible corrective action since these areas are
now exposed and void of pavement materials. Wright further concludes that
additional assessment work may be required after the completion of this
corrective action work.
`]p e- • Tracy,CA 95376
209.833.0758 • Fax 209.832.5152
wright@inreach.com Lic. #651501 A-B HazMat, C21 Page 1
websit hitp://wrightenvironmentalservices.com
