(TO BE TYPED ON CVRWQCB STATIONERY)
Progresso Foods Company
400 South Fourth Street
St. Louis, Missouri 63102
ATTN: Mr. Ken Thouvenot
Re: Former Tillie Lewis Foods Cannery
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Thouvenot:
The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, acting
+ as the lead agency for itself and the San Joaquin Local Health
District has conducted an on-site inspection and split soil and
water sampling using GCFID and EPA method #8020 or 8240. The
sampling procedures for conducting this split soil and water
sampling are described on the drawing attached to this letter
(Exhibit A) . These procedures were adequate to determine whether
the contamination has been fully remediated.
The sampling results and condition of the property are described
on Exhibit B attached to this letter. Based on the sampling
results as well as the on-site inspection, very small amounts of
those hazardous wastes described on Exhibit B remain present in
the soil , but these amounts are far below the permissible
exposure limit and no risk of danger or damage to the environment
exists from these wastes. No hazardous wastes are present in the
ground water. As a result, no additional sampling or remediation
is necessary now or will be necessary in the future. Progresso
is authorized to immediately begin refilling the formerly
contaminated area with clean fill dirt.
If you have any questions with respect to this matter, please
contact me.
Very truly yours,
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
By
Gordon Lee Boggs
Underground Storage Tank Coordinator
/pak
Attachment
