000 _
CLEARWWER
G R O U P
Fvvirovpnevnvi services
tert-amyl methyl ether [TAME] , and tert-butanol [TBA]), and the lead scavengers, ethylene
dibromide, and 1 ,2-dieloroethane.
Clearwater is scheduled to gauge and sample the wells on February 17, 18, and 19, 2009.
Clearwater will notify the EHD if any significant developments occur during the sampling
process .
Low—Flow Purging
The EHD has tentatively approved the use of the low-flow (minimal-drawdown) method at the
site. To document that the change in procedures is acceptable and at the request of the EHD the
low-flow technique will be used initially followed by purging of three well casings from each
well and sampling. Clearwater will then analyze the two samples collected from each well for the
contaminants of concern. If the results are comparable, future sampling will be done utilizing
the low-flow procedures.
Recommendations
Clearwater recommends that the groundwater monitoring and Operation and Maintenance
(O&M) program (as modified by EHD in their letter dated December 23, 2008) be initiated and
evaluated after one year to assess whether modifications are warranted or until closure can be
granted by the EHD. In addition, Clearwater recommends adding wells DPW- 1 and AS4 to the
quarterly sampling schedule in order to better define groundwater quality in the vicinity of these
wells.
If you have any questions please contact me at 510-307-9943 or by e-mail at
msiembieda(a clearwatergroup.com
Yours truly : gED Get
S/E ci
Clearwater Group 4 a`r,'
Ww ✓ No: 4007 y
lgrf orCAOi
Michael L.
