The borings will be continuously cored to between 10 and 15 feet below
surface grade (bsg ) to obtain a shallow grab groundwater sample. Soil cores collected from the
sampling device will be classified according to the Unified Soil Classification System , and
screened every two feet for volatile organic compounds with a photo-ionization detector. One
grab groundwater sample will be collected from each boring and submitted for chemical analysis
of petroleum hydrocarbons .
_SJC/EHD approves-the proposed Geoprobe investigation-and collection of grab groundwater
samples for analysis, but conditions that the borings extend to 25 feet bsg to intercept and
collect a groundwater sample from the sand unit commonly occurring across the site at that
depth . Clearwater may elect to collect two grab groundwater samples from each boring, one at
first encountered water as proposed and one from the water bearing unit. Please proceed with
submittal of a SJC/EHD well permit application , required $89. 00 permit fee and $294. 00 permit
inspection fee, all necessary encroachment permits and/or access agreements, and with
scheduling the approved work. A Report of Findings documenting the investigation is due for
submittal to SJC/EHD within 60 days following completion of the fieldwork.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran , REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan , Senior REHS Nuel C.
