CLEARWATER
G R O U P I N C
Environmental Services
es were
samples analyzed for TPHg and BTEX with MTBE On March 23, 1999, samples were additionally
y g
analyzed for fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8240B
2 5 Sensitive Receptor Survey
In order to identify possible sensitive receptors that could be impacted by the subject release, a review
of all available well driller's reports at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) was
conducted by Clearwater personnel for an area based on a 2,000-foot radius around the site
Additionally, local topographic maps were reviewed for any surface water bodies that could
potentially be impacted
3 0 RESULTS
31 Subsurface Lithology
Subsurface lithologies encountered during drilling consisted predominantly of silty clay, organic rich in
places, with subsidiary clayey sand with gravel noted in MW-4 at 3 feet bgs The water table was
. encountered at approximately 9 5 feet bgs Lithologic correlation between borings is displayed
graphically on the geologic cross-sections presented as Figures 3A and 3B Detailed soil sample
' descriptions are presented in Appendix B
' 3 2 Soil Sample Analytical Results
A total of nine soil samples collected from borings MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 were analyzed
Concentrations of TPHg were detected in borings MW-4 and MW-6 The highest concentration of TPHg
' (3 5 mg/kg) was detected at 10 5 feet bgsSB wever, laboratory notations indicate that the
chromatogram pattern of this sample does not match the gasoline standard No other analytes were
' detected in this sample In all other samples, no TPHg, BTEX, or MTBE were present in concentrations
exceeding method detection limits, except the 19-foot bgs samples from MW-5 and MW-6 Sample MW-
1 5-19' contained 0 035 mg/kg of benzene TPHg was not detected in thus sample Sample MW-6-19'
contained 19 mg/kg of TPHg Benzene was not detected in thus sample
' Soul sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and shown on Figure 4 The certified
laboratory analytical report is presented with the chain of custody in Appendix D
1
i
1
1 C-178 WELL INsr RPT 4 May 7, 1999
