@TWANEENVIRMtiW
1.0 INTRODUCTION Ot-
De Rollo Mazda retained North Cal Construction to remove a 5000 gallon leaded
gasoline tank pursuant to San Joaquin County Local Health District (SJHD) underground
tank closure regulations. After removing the 5000 gallon tank, indications of native soil
contamination were found. North Cal Construction, on behalf of De Rollo Mazda,
authorized Thorne Environmental, Inc. to prepare this work plan for site assessment and
characterization. The work plan will encompass De Rollo Mazda's former facility at
Grant and Miner, Stockton, California (Figure 1). SJHD is the lead regulatory agency
for this project.
` 1.1 PURPOSE
The site assessment and characterization described in this work plan has the following
` objectives:
0 Determine the vertical and lateral extent of the soil contamination involving
` volatile aromatic organics (BTX&E) and total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH)• —I
0 Determine the source of the contamination.
1.2 SCOPE OF WORK
L
The scope of services described in this work plan encompass the entire site and include:
L j,
06 O c,po —Location of underground utilities utilizing De Rollo Mazda and North Cal
u' Construction information as well as the underground services alert (USA);
L 0 Advancement of up to 4 soil borings for the former 5000 gallon leaded
gasoline tank located in the east side of the facility. Advancement of up
/ ? to 4 soil borings for 1000 gallon gasoline tank removed two years ago. The
L J V) 1000 gallon gasoline tank was located on the west side of the facility. The
approximate locations of the 8 soil borings are shown on Figure 2;
L 0 The borings will be advanced to approximately 35 feet or 5 feet below level
where last contaminants are detected. Groundwater levels will not be
reached during boring advancement. The augers will be steam cleaned
prior to and between each boring to prevent cross-contamination;
0 The samples will be collected at approximate 5 foot intervals to a depth of
35 feet or 5 feet below level where last contaminants are detected. The
samples will be collected using a standard California split spoon sampler
with brass tubes steam cleaned prior to use. These samples will be field
screened and selected samples will be chosen for chemical analysis;
1
