19 November 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0184
be surveyed by a state licensed surveyor.Procedures for well installation, development and surveying
are presented in Sections 4.2. and 4.3..
3.4. GROUND WATER EXTRACTION (PUMPING) TEST
AGE proposes to utilize the newly-installed extraction well EW-1 to perform an 8-hour step draw-
down pumping test and a 12-hour aquifer constant rate pumping test at the site to: 1) evaluate the
general zones of capture (radii of influence) achievable during ground water extraction at the site,
2) obtain general aquifer characteristics such as hydraulic conductivity, storativity, transmissivity,
and draw-down at a constant pumping rate, and 3)evaluate the feasibility of ground water extraction
as a remedial alternative at the site.
A constant ground water pumping rate for the 12-hour aquifer pumping test will be based on the
results of the 8-hour pumping test and the availability of storage for the produced water. If it appears
that steady state conditions have not been achieved at the end of the 12-hour test, the test period will
be increased to 24 hours.
During the 12-hour pump test, grab ground water samples will be taken from the effluent line during
selected portions of the pump-test. The ground water samples will be collected into laboratory-
supplied 40-milliliter(ml) volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials containing 0.5 ml of hydrochloric
acid as preservative and into one-liter amber glass containers without a sample preservative. Care
will be taken to ensure that visible air bubbles are not present in the vials after filling and capping.
Following collection the samples will be appropriately labeled, placed on ice and kept in a cooler
until delivered to a DHS-certified analytical laboratory for analysis. COC protocols will be used to
document sample custody transfer from the field to the laboratory; a COC form will accompany the
samples. All pumping test procedures are described in Section 4.4. 6 tO 34nta "4'e .(_.
cz-sr4°l1z:w{A444-1
V* A Capt 4So/
3.5. PREPARATION OF REPORT OF FINDINGS q ,
Following extraction well installation and performance of the pumping test,a report will be prepared
presenting the findings. The report will include a description of work performed and the results of.
1) soil sampling and analysis and 2)the pumping test. Conclusions and recommendations will also
be included in the reports, if applicable. The report will be in a format acceptable to the EHD and
the California Regional Water Qualaity Control Board(RWQCB), and will be reviewed and signed
by a California Registered Geologist.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
