/S II
• 22 June 1998
AGE-NC Project No 95-0135
ETBE and TAME were not detected in any of the water samples analyzed MTBE was detected in
the water sample analyzed from well MW-2B at a concentration of 52 ppb TBA was detected in
water samples analyzed from well MW-1B, MW-213 and MW-3A at concentration up to 200 ppb
DIPE was detected in the water samples MW-2A and MW-2B at concentrations of 61 and 15 ppb,
respectively
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 4 -Analytical Results of Ground
Water Samples-Analyzed by EPA methods 8015 and 8020 and in Table 5 •Analytical Results of
Ground Water Samples - Analyzed by EPA methods 8260/8260m The laboratory report (MAI
Laboratory ID 87942 through 87947) and chain-of-custody are in Appendix B
4.0. SUMMARY/CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation
• On 09 April 1998, the ground water flow direction at the site was generally toward the
. southwest, a change of 180 degrees from the previous gradient direction Ground water
elevation has risen an average since the previous sampling event
s The analytical data from the lower screened casing intervals of wells MW-1 and MW-2
indicted that the highest concentration of dissolved hydrocarbons remain in the western
portion of the site Monitoring well MW-3 appears to be located near the eastern margin of
the dissolved hydrocarbon plume The lateral extent of dissolved hydrocarbons is not defined
west, south and north of well MW-1 or south and north of well MW-2
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of this investigation, AGE recommends the following
• Quarterly monitoring should be scheduled for early 1998
• Additional soil borings and ground water monitoring wells should be installed to determine
the lateral extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and hydrocaron-impacted ground water
If ground water remediation is required on the site, feasibility testing should be performed to
evaluate various remedial alternatives
6.0.
