Site Background Information LARRY'S AUTO 308 North Grant Street, Stockton, California ' The site is located in a commercial area of low topographic relief in central Stockton, on the northeast corner of the intersection of Grant Street and Miner Avenue The site is currently operated as Larry's Auto Repair and was formerly operated as De Rollo Mazda The property is occupied by ' a single building with attached canopy and a parking area ' REGIONAL GEOLOGICd=ROGEOLOGIC SETTING ' The property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough The Great Valley Province has been filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent,creating a nearly flat- lying alluvial plain,extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains in the north The western and eastern boundaries of this province are the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively Rocks composing the basement complex of the province have not ' been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic and igneous origins The northern and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been designated the Sacramento and San . Joaquin Valleys, respectively ' The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying recent alluvium are the principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground ' Water Basin (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River The nearest surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the Little Connection Slough immediately west of the subject property Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is used for domestic, ' industrial and commercial purposes ' UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVALS ' On 24 April 1987,one 1,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank(Tank A)was removed from the northwestern corner ofthe site One 1,000-gallon gasoline UST and one 1,000-gallon diesel UST (Tanks B &C)were removed from beneath the sidewalk at the southeastern corner of the site on 25 ' May 1990 Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected beneath tanks A,B and C ' On 19 October 1988, one 300-gallon waste oil UST (Tank D) was removed from the site near the northern property line and the canopy Only low concentrations of TCE and chloroform were detected in the sample collected beneath the UST Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc
