SITE SAFETY PLAN
SITE MANAGER
Our field engineer will be responsible for the implementation of the Site Safety Plan. Our
engineer will keep a daily record of site activities and will control access of the work zone.
TRAINING CERTIFICATION
Our engineer is currently certified for Hazardous Waste Site Operations training received in
accord with 29 CFR 1910.120.
SITE ORIENTATION MEETING
A meeting will be conducted prior to the commencement of work for the purpose of
discussing the work zones, physical and chemical hazards, as well as additional elements of
this Safety Plan. The meeting will be conducted by our engineer; attendees will include the
property owner, if on-site, and the drill crew as a minimum.
HAZARD ASSESSMENT
The primary potential hazards generally include physical hazards inherent in equipment usage,
explosion, chemical, both contact and inhalation and heat exposure. These concerns and
methods for minimizing the potential for each are discussed separately below.
Physical Hazards
Hard-hats, safety glasses and sturdy shoes will be worn within the work zone. The
work zone will be kept in an orderly fashion to minimize tripping hazards.
Chemical Hazards
The potential chemicals anticipated during the current undertaking include diesel,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and 1,1 DCA. If significantly contaminated
soil and/or groundwater is encountered, protective clothing may include Tyvek suits,
and gloves. Glove material should consist of the one of the following: neoprene,
nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, polyvinyl alcohol or Viton. Polyvinyl alcohol and Viton
materials are considered the best of the listed materials for resistance to petroleum
hydrocarbons. Emergency response measures to be taken if skin or eye exposure
occurs are presented later in the Safety Plan. Respiratory exposure limits for
anticipated volatile compounds are tabulated below.
■ Geotechnical
T
d
C
c
