San Joaquin County <br /> November 5, 1991 <br /> Job No. 168-011 .01 <br /> ' Page 2 <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Our work would include groundwater sampling at the approximate locations shown <br /> ' on Plate 2. Groundwater, indicated to be present between ten and 12 feet below the <br /> ground surface, would be engaged by hydraulically pressing a Hydropunch II casing <br /> and sample-point to the desired sampling depth. Once at the desired depth, <br /> groundwater would be obtained with a clean teflon or stainless steel bailer. <br /> Groundwater would be quickly transferred from the bailer to a combination of one-liter <br /> amber bottles, VOA vials and 500-milliliter plastic containers for refrigeration and <br /> ' transport under chain-of-custody to a Department of Health Services (DHS) certified <br /> laboratory for analysis. Both travel blank and bailer blank samples consisting of <br /> distilled water would accompany the field specimens. <br /> Sampling equipment would be cleaned between sampling locations, Cleansing would <br /> be accomplished by scrubbing and/or steam cleaning with a TSP or Alconox solution <br /> ' followed by several clean water rinsings. Rinseate will be contained in sealed D.O.T. <br /> approved drums. Additional equipment decontamination and rinseate collection details <br /> are discussed in the appended Safety Plan. Following sampling operations,,tth\eV _ <br /> Hydropunch holes would be backfilled with cement grout. � /„y� h�itic <br /> NOT- <br /> The groundwater samples would be analyzed for the following: (1 ) total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel; (2) volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 624; <br /> (3) polynuclear aromatic (PNA) compounds by EPA Method 610; and (4) total lead by <br /> EPA Methods 3005 and 6010. <br /> Our findings would be summarized in a report which would include a sample location <br /> plan, a description of our procedures, the analytical data and our conclusions. <br /> STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Raney Geotechnical is a geotechnical and environmental engineering firm located in <br /> West Sacramento, California. The firm was founded in 1979; current professional <br /> staff includes five engineers and four geologists. The firm was involved in <br /> environmentally related geotechnical and hydrological studies as early as 1981 , shortly <br /> after the enactment of the Superfund legislation. These early environmentally driven <br /> studies were performed for uranium and coal mining clients in the mountain west, and <br /> included regional geology, groundwater quality, soil chemistry, surface water <br /> ' hydrology, and geotechnical engineering. The firm has performed more than 100 <br /> Phase I and II toxic audits and/or assessments within the last year, and is used as a <br /> consultant by a number of major banks.
