Supplementary Site Assessment Report
Former Mobil Bulk Plant 04-343
April 26, 1996
' Quarterly Progress Reports (Alton, 1996a, 1996b). In addition, groundwater samples were
collected and submitted for analysis of various bio-parameters (see Table 3).
4.3 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER DISPOSAL
' Drilling activities on May 22 and June 1, 1995, generated approximately 1.5 cubic yards of soil.
Drill cuttings were stored onsite in Department of Transportation (DOT) approved drums prior
to transport to the BFI Vasco Road Landfill.
Rinsate water generated during drilling activities, and purge water generated during sampling
P g
events, were stored onsite in DOT-approved drums prior to transport by Integrated Waste
' Management, Inc. (IWM) to McKittrick Waste Disposal Facility, McKittrick, California.
t5.0 FINDINGS
5.1 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER RESULTS
Results of the investigation are summarized below:
' Soil types encountered consist of sandy fill, and sandy silts, clayey silts, and gravels.
• No gasoline-range hydrocarbons were detected in Soil Borings AB-3 or AB-4. TPH-G
' concentrations were detected in soil samples collected from borings AB-1 and AB-2,
located offsite and to the west of the property (maximum TPH-G concentration of 91 ppm
' detected in soil boring AB-2 at 5 fbg). Low level concentrations of BTEX were detected
in one soil sample collected from AB-2 at a depth of 20 fbg (benzene concentration of 1.1
ppm). Minor concentrations of ethylbenzene and total xylenes were detected in AB-1 at
10 fbg (0.13 ppm ethylbenzene and 0.70 ppm total xylenes) and minor total xylene
concentrations were detected in all samples collected from AB-2 (maximum concentration
of 25 ppm detected at 20 fbg).
• No diesel-range hydrocarbons were detected in Soil Borings AB-3 or AB-4. TPH-D
concentrations were detected in soil samples collected from borings AB-1 and AB-2
' (maximum concentration of 2,500 ppm detected at 5 fbg in soil boring AB-2).
' 4
