i
REG EN ES IS Bioremediation Products 2301 San Joaquin Mlls Road
Corona del Mar,CA 92625
Phone;(7I4)721-0654
c Far:(714)721.7873
k
t
I
1. Product COMIDOsition and Manufacturing Details:
Regenesis Bioremediation Products (Regenesis) manufactures a product called ORCR
a patented formulation of magnesium peroxide (M902). The patent specifies the use
of ordinary potassium phosphate to coMtro the rate of release of oxygen by
intercalation; a reference to the fact the phosphate does not coat the magnesium
peroxide, but rather enters the crystalline structure during manufacture. The potassium
phosphate is generally added at the level of 3% by weight.
E
t
When magnesium peroxide is manufactured from a reaction between magnesium oxide
and hydrogen peroxide, not al1 of the magnesium oxide is converted in the reaction,
and there is residual unreacted magnesium oxide in the final product. Residual
hydrogen peroxide, if any, is destroyed in drying the product. Therefore there are three
components in ORC: magnesium peroxide, magnesium oxide and potassium
'r phosphate. The appropriate MSDS's are attached as Exhibit 1.
The product is manufactured by Regenesis Bioremediation Products_ The reaction as
stated above is carried out and upon completion of the reaction an aqueous slurry of
magnesium peroxide, unreacted magnesium oxide and potassium phosphate is
present. This is then dried to specifications to make a uniform, highly dispersable ORC
powder. It may later be formulated in concrete to facilitate delivery to, and removal
from, the treatment zone; this product being referred to as ORC-concrete (using an
ordinary portland cement based concrete which is free of additives).
Regenesis will focus on the ORC-concrete as the article of commerce. Briquettes will
be composed of up to 40% ORC placed in wells in a retrievable manner. In this
particular method of implementation the intent is to form an "oxygen barrier", whereby
the ORC slowly releases oxygen in wells placed across a contaminated plume as
presented in Exhibit 2.
Magnesium peroxide has several uses outside of bioremediation. In agriculture,
magnesium peroxide is used to provide oxygen to treat anaerobic soils that limit plant
growth. Regenesis Bioremediation Products was recently formed out of Plant
Research Laboratories (PRL) in Corona del Mar, CA, which specializes in agricultural
uses of magnesium peroxide. PRL manufactures Oxygen Plus Plant Food that uses
magnesium peroxide in one of its product lines (granular formulations as opposed to
liquids that are formulated with urea peroxide). The products are sold in all 50 States,
• where they have met individual Department of Agriculture fertilizer registration
