}
I
complete suite of background water quality analyses will also be conducted for arsenic, mercury,
fluoride, chloride, silver, sulfate, aluminum, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, and total dissolved
solids. The samples will be collected after purging the wells of approximately 10 casing volumes
of water.
Using the data gathered from the ground water chemistry analysis, an evaluation of the potential
effectiveness of adding oxygen to ground water to enhance the biodegradation of remaining
adsorbed-phase hydrocarbons present below the water table will be conducted. Potential side
effects of oxygen addition due to chemical factors, such as high dissolved iron or other metals
with high chemical oxygen demand, will be considered. If oxygen appears to be a limiting factor
in microbial population growth, dissolved-oxygen concentrations may be increased using an ORC.
E One of the compounds being considered is manufactured by Regenesis Bioremediation Products,
t located in Corona del Mar, California. This product is currently being used to enhance
biodegradation of hydrocarbons at several locations in California by various environmental
remediation firms. Appendix B contains a summary sheet provided by the manufacturer outlining
the product and its function in detail.
A status report on the feasibility of enhanced biodegradation as a remedial measure at the site
will be issued to the County in the supplementary site assessment report. This report will contain
pertinent ground water chemistry data and a summary of the likely effectiveness of insitu
enhanced bioremediation in remediation of remaining adsorbed-phase and dissolved-phase
hydrocarbons at the site.
4.7 SUPPLEMENTARY SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT
A report on the supplementary site assessment activities and enhanced biodegradation feasibility
evaluation will include boring logs, laboratory analysis results, well construction details,
findings, and conclusions. Ground water monitoring and sampling reports will be issued on a
quarterly basis and will contain official laboratory reports, chain of custody documentation and
copies of the field purge data sheets.
5.0 WORK SCHEDULE
Planned activities will be performed according to the following estimated completion schedule:
• Expected agency approval of work plan by: December 15, 1994
• Drill borings/wells by: January 15, 1995 (pending permission for private property access).
• Conduct baseline and background water quality sampling for enhanced biodegradation
feasibility by: January 31, 1995
• Submit supplementary site assessment and enhanced biodegradation feasibility report by:
March 15, 1995
• 6
