PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
The work plan included the drilling and sampling of 11 soil borings, 9 of which will be placed on site and
2 off site. These soil borings were placed to characterize the residual soil contamination which may
remain after the 1990 excavation.
Soil samples will be collected for geological description and field screening every 2.5 feet below the
backfilled area and every 5 feet outside the backfilled area to be followed with every 2.5 feet below 10 feet.
Selected soil samples will undergo laboratory analysis. PHS/EHD suggests that adequate soil samples
undergo analysis to characterize any residual soil contamination encountered and to confirm that the
excavation successfully removed the contaminated soil.
Additional investigation and/or remediation may be required once PHS/EHD has evaluated the results of
this investigation.
Please submit two permit applications for the proposed soil borings and $89 for each permit application to
PHS/EHD. A City of Tracy and/or Pacific Gas and Electric encroachment permit will be necessary for the
proposed soil boring west of the site. Field work may commence upon issuance of drilling permits. If you
have any questions, please contact Mary Meays at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Ways, Senior REHS 4Dianeinison, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
DH/MM:lb
c: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB c: Gordon Egan, Tracy Venture
c: Greg Schubert, Tracy Venture/Mark III c: Ronald Scheele, Alton Geoscience
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
