Four above- a
ground diesel fuel storage tanks and one underground gasoline storage
tank were present at the site (see Figure 2).
3.0 PLANNED FIELD D ACTINITI ES
3.1 PRE-FIELD 'WORK ACTIVITIES
Ground water observation well permits will be acquired prior to drilling.
3
Underground Service Alert will be notified prior to field activities to mark underground utilities
near the proposed drilling locations.
3.2 DRILLING, SOIL SAMPLING, AND ANALYSIS
9
Three onsite ground water observation wells will be drilled to depths of approximately 25 feet
below grade (fbg) (Figure 2), The .wells will be used as observation wells during aquifer
pumping tests. Drilling will be performed using a 10-inch-diameter hollow-stem auger drill rig,
Soil samples will be collected continuously for soil description, field hydrocarbon vapor testing,
and possible laboratory analysis. Refer to Appendix A for general field procedures.
Select soil samples will be analyzed for the following:
0 total petroleum hydrocarbons 'as gasoline CEPH-G) and diesel (TPH-D);
• benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX);
I
• total organic, and fractional organic carbon (TOC & FOC);
•
bulk and specific density; and
• sieve analysis,
3.3 OBSERVATION WELL CONSTRUCTION
Observation wells will be constructed using 4-inch-diameter PVC !casing with an expected
screened interval froin 5 to 25 fbg. Well construction details and development procedures are
outlined in Appendix A.
3.4 ELEVATION SURVEY AND FLUID-LEVEL MONITORING„
Well top elevations will be surveyed;relative. to a city benchmark to the nearest 0.01 foot by a
licensed surveyor, Fluid levels in 1he observation wells will be measured to obtain data
2
i
J
