The City of Tracy is widening Grant Line Road as part of traffic mitigation for a new "box
store." Following completion of the road widening project, monitoring wells MW-5, MW-6,
MW-7, MW-8, and MW-12 and extraction well EX-6 would be located in Grant Line Road and
would no longer be accessible.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the destruction of all six wells. By
30 August 2010, Chevron needs to properly abandon the wells and submit a well
abandonment report. As stated in the letter, Chevron is aware that it may need to install
replacement monitoring wells. Central Valley Water Board staff will evaluate the need for
replacement wells and inform Chevron of the results of the evaluation.
If you have any questions regarding this letter,'you may contact me at (916) 464-4819 or
ksheltonC@waterboards.ca.gov.
,i&- zW6L—
KRISTI SHELTON, P.E.
Water Resources Control Engineer
Aboveground Tanks Cleanup Unit
cc: San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Allen Just, ARCADIS, Irvine
California Environmental Protection Agency
Co Recycled Paper
