(ARCADIS) has prepared this response letter for the Corral
Contact:
Hollow and Grant Line Roads Site (the Site) located in Tracy, California. This Mr. Allen Just, P.E.
correspondence was prepared in response to the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board, Central Valley Region (Regional Board) letter dated February 9, 2010 Phone:
(copy attached), which provided comments related to the proposed scope of work 714.730.9052 Ext 38
included in ARCADIS' Addendum to Site Closure Report dated November 12, 2009.
Email:
In the letter, the Regional Board requested the following: AIIen.Just@arcadis-
us.com
(1) By March 1, 2010, Chevron needs to notify the Regional Board if it intends to
drilla soil boring near SB-8; and Our ref:
B0047033.0000.00001
(2) By April 30, 2010, Chevron needs to drill the four soil borings, collect and
analyze the soil and groundwater samples, and submit a report of findings.
Response to Item No. 1
Chevron does not plan to drill a soil boring near S-8 at this time. Chevron will initiate
communications with the City of Tracy to actively pursue a mechanism for restricting
access to the area surrounding the location of soil-boring S-8. During this process,
Chevron will provide monthly updates to the Regional Board with respect to their
progress.
Response to Item No. 2
Chevron is requesting a deadline extension of May 31, 2010 to complete the
proposed work in Item 2. The additional time will allow Chevron to coordinate the
proposed soil and groundwater sampling with the semi=annual groundwater
monitoring event conducted during the 2nd quarter. In addition, Chevron intends to
redevelop existing wells prior to the 2nd quarter sampling event, in an attempt to
improve turbidity readings observed in recent sampling events.
