During the drilling of VEW-1, 2 feet from MW-1, heavy
contamination was observed from 15 feet down to 35 feet. The deeper soils encountered
while drilling MW-1 did not show the presence of gasoline hydrocarbon compounds.
See Appendix B Boring Lo f
pp , g g a o r more e znformation.
4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on our interpretation of the data collected over the course of this subsurface
investigation we have reached several 'conclusions. These conclusions are based on the
premise that the data we considered, although incornplete, are representative of actual site
conditions. We acknowledge that there inay be.undiscovered conditions, which would upon
their consideration, change our interpretation and thus our conclusions.
Our recommendations are based on our knowledge of site conditions, the state and
limitations of subsurface investigative.technology.
. 4.1 ' Conclusions
It is concluded the residual MTBE and TBA in the soil at 15 feet and 60 feet bgs do not pose
a threat the public health of the environment. The small volume of these chemicals dose not
poses a threat to the drinking water well.
4.2 Recommendations
It is recommended that.the site be closed and that wells be abandoned under county permit.
A work plan for the abandonment of the one groundwater monitoring wells and the four
vapor wells is included in Appendix E
I .
