However, Geological Technics Inc. recommends that further vadose
zone definition to the north be performed by drilling one additional borehole
about 20 feet to the north of SB-4.
Further site characterization work will enable better decisions to be made
regarding remedial options. Geological -Technics Inc. recommends that a limited
feasibility study be performed to help evaluate a cost effective methods of
remediation. A remedial option to consider would be in-situ treatment using
soil vapor extraction technology. The feasibility study for vapor extraction could
r be performed at one of two levels:
L. 0 by computer modeling and calculation, or
by field testing methods - perform a vapor extraction pilot test.
It is recommended that the USTCFP application be submitted as soon as possible
and that plans be made for remedial -,action once the site is funded. In the
interim, the property could sold as long as the new property owner recognizes
that drilling and pipe construction work will be' performed and that a vapor
extraction & treatment system would be in operation for a couple of years, and
that routine monitoring would be performed. However, this remedial work
would be limited to the area around west side of the house. And should not .
disrupt the use of the property.
I®
L
i
L
