Approximately 40 feet of separation is observed at this site from the-last known contaminant
detected in soil samples (60 feet bgs) to ground water(depth to ground water is approximately 100 feet bgs). Soil
borings to the south and west of the tank excavation are non-detect for TPH and BTEX providing incomplete
delineation to the east and north.
PHS\EHD concurs with Geological Techniques Inc. proposals to perform additional soil borings and sample
collection at this site in an attempt to further define the lateral and vertical distribution of petroleum
contaminants.
However,PHS\EFID does not concur with Geological Techniques Inc.proposals to perform interim remediation
studies or activities at this site given the data available to date. Justification for interim remediation is currently
unwarranted.
PHS\EHD therefore recommends further assessment at this site with appropriate modifications to this work plan
to provide analytical data which may lead to site closure including but not limited to geophysical data acquisition
for the purpose of fate and transport risk assessment.
Should you have any questions regarding this correspondence please contact Ronald Rowe of PHS\EHD Site
Mitigation at (209) 468-0342.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Ronald Rowe, Senior REHS DiaHinson, EHSi
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Geological Techniques Inc. - Tim McDonald
SWRCB - George Lockwood
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
