The vacuum pressure drawdown
will be measured at the multilevel vapor extractionm itoring wells. Those 5
intervals showing response to vacuum pressure will demon rate the vadose zones.,
pneumatic conductivity. 11 of hD?
The methods and procedures used for collecting the pilot test data are as follows:
The air velocity and vacuum pressure will be measured with. the Solomat 500e
Multifunctional Environmental Instrument. The extracted air flow velocity is
measured by inserting manometer pitot probe into the measured duct and reading
the value displayed by the instrument.
The vacuum pressure in nearby monitoring wells will be measured by first attaching
an air tight cap to the well to he cap has an orifice which accepts e pressure
measuring instrument. The vera in function ' gaged and th pea value is
recorded after the reading has stabilized.
A hand operated vacuum pump will be used to ect an air sample from each well
to evaluate mass transfer rates. This data can accompany the Authority to Construct
application. The air sample will be collected in a one liter capacity Tedlar bag and
submitted for same day BTEX & TPH-Gasoline analysis at GeoAnalytical
laboratories of Modesto. The detection limits are as follows: BTEX = 0.3 gg/1 &
TPH-Gasoline = 0.05 mg/1.
This Laboratory data can be used for completing the Authority to Construct. The
pilot test report can be used as a Feasibility Study report and combined with a
conceptual Remedial Action Plan for use in obtaining bids for site remediation.
3.0 PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF WORK
The proposed schedule for the additional site characterization work and feasibility
study is as follows:
Task Description Completion Data
• Cost pre-approval for well installation & feasibility study Dec. 29, 1995
• Drill & install (1) MW, (1)VEM , & (2) VEW Jan. 22, 1996
• Perform vapor extraction pilot test/feasibility study Jan. 29, 1996
