ATTACHMENT A <br /> Proposal <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Well Destructions <br /> California Highway Patrol Facility <br /> 385 Grantline Road <br /> Tracy, California <br /> 49014-001 <br /> September 30, 2005 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> Kleinfelder is pleased to present this proposal to Department of General Services (DGS) <br /> for destruction of four groundwater monitoring wells associated with the California <br /> Highway Patrol Facility at 385 Grantline Road located in Tracy, California. The <br /> proposed scope of work was developed upon review of the site files, review of the prior <br /> consultant's reports, discussions with you, and discussions with the San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). Kleinfelder is committed to <br /> providing quality service to its clients, commensurate with their wants, needs, and <br /> desired level of risk. If a portion of this proposal does not meet the needs of <br /> Department of General Services or if those needs have changed, Kleinfelder will <br /> consider appropriate modifications, subject to the standards of care to which we adhere <br /> as professionals. <br /> This proposal presents a scope of work to perform the following: <br /> • Task 1 - Pre-Field Activities <br /> • Task 2 - Submit Well Destruction Applications to SJCEHD <br /> • Task 3 - Perform Well Destructions <br /> • Task 4 - Prepare Letter of Completion <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On March 25, 1999, a soil and groundwater investigation was performed in the vicinity <br /> of a single wall fiberglass 12,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) as a <br /> part of 1998 UST upgrade requirements. Four Geoprobe borings (S13-1 through S134) <br /> were advanced to 25 feet below ground surface (bgs) on both sides and ends of the <br /> UST. Soil samples were collected from 9.5 to 10 feet bgs and 24.5 to 25 feet bgs. A <br /> grab groundwater sample was collected from each boring. MTBE was detected in each <br /> of the soil samples collected from 24.5 to 25 feet bgs at concentrations ranging from <br /> 0.004 mg/kg to 0.093 mg/kg and in each of the grab groundwater samples from 3 ug/L <br /> to 940 ug/L. With the exception of total xylenes detected at 10 ug/kg in S13-2 (24.5 to 25 <br /> 02301 PROP/SAC5P435 Page 1 of 5 September 30, 2005 <br />
