Objective <br /> Install monitoring wells. <br /> r <br /> 2. Background <br /> Monitoring wells will be installed in accordance witli the ASTM Standards and the <br /> appropriate lead agency guidelines. ' <br /> l <br /> 3. Personnel Required and Responsibilities <br /> Staff Geologist: An experienced staff geologist (SG)'will ensure that the monitoring wells <br /> are properly installed and oversee the logging of the monitoring wells. The SG will be <br /> responsible for complying with the procedures regarding installation of the wells, <br /> collection of samples, containerization of samples, avid documentation. <br /> I� <br /> Trilling Technicians: Drilling technicians from a drilling company holding a C-57 license <br /> will perform the monitoring well installation. <br /> 4. Equipment Required <br /> f , <br /> • Drill Rig <br /> • Level D Safety Equipment <br /> • Boring Log form/Munsell Soil Charts <br /> • Sample containers (provided by the laboratory) <br /> • 2"x6" Stainless Steel Sleeves, Teflon Tape, Plastic End Caps <br /> • Sample labels/Indelible marker <br /> E <br /> • Disposal gloves <br /> • Ice chest with ice <br /> • ASTM Classification Guide <br /> 5. Procedure <br /> • Winzler& Kelly will obtain all required permits prior to drilling the monitoring wells. <br /> A Site-Specific Safety Plan detailing site hazards;,site safety, and control will be <br /> prepared prior to any field work. Underground Services Alert(USA) will be notified <br /> of the planned work at least 48 hours prior to drilling. <br /> F A Photo-Ionization Detector(PID) will be used during the drilling and sampling <br /> activities to screen for the presence of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). <br /> SOP MW Installation 1 January 2004 <br /> t <br />
