STEVE SASSON ate
SITE: CHP FACILITY by
385 WEST GRANTLINE ROAD l
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
RE: SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION WORKPLAN
Dear Mr. Sasson:
Alton Geoscience submits this workplan for the California Highway Patrol facility, located at 385
West Grantline Road in Tracy, California (Figure 1). o
1.0 OBJECTIVES
The planned site assessment activities will be performed to determine if any contaminated soil exists
in the immediate vicinity of an existing gasoline underground storage tank (UST) at the above
referenced site.
2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is currently a CHP Station with a gasoline UST and pump for fueling CHP vehicles
(Figure 2).
The site is located about 3,500 feet south of Highway 205 at an elevation of approximately 25 feet
above mean sea level (NGVD-1929). Topography in the vicinity of the site is relatively flat,
sloping slightly to the north.
The site lies in the Central Valley of California. Geologically, the valley is a large asymmetric
trough that is bounded by pre-Tertiary granitic, metamorphic, and marine sedimentary rocks. The
trough has been filled with as much as 30,000 feet of sediment in the San Joaquin Valley to the
south and as much as 60,000 feet of sediment in the Sacramento Valley to the north. These
sediments range in age from Jurassic to Holocene and include both marine and continental
sedimentary deposits (USGS 1986).
The scope of this investigation includes only the uppermost deposits within the Central Valley.
Continental deposits of Tertiary and Quaternary age compose a number of formations; in total they
I R V [ N E Ll VE RM ORE N 0 R T H R I D G E SAN DIEGO SANTA FE SPRINGS
30A Lindbergh Avenue • Livermore,California 94550-9503 • (925)606-9150 - FAX(925)606-9260 • www.altongeo.com
