Grant Line Rd. 3
Tracy, CA
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
"Report of Monitoring Well Installation (MW-4)
and Quarterly Groundwater
Monitoring and Sampling" report dated May 26, 2004, prepared by Winzler &
.
Kelly for the above referenced site. The report recommends that the site be
closed because newly installed, deeper screened MW4 did not contain any
petroleum related constituents and that the concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons in•the shallow groundwater are very low.
EHD doesn't agree that the'site should be closed at this time. The soil 44
contamination appears to be vertically defined and the shallow soil contamination
f
concentrations are low. The groundwater contamination appears to be limited to
*
shallow groundwater. Further sampling and analysis of the groundwater samples ' d
is required to confirm the concentrations of contamination in the groundwater as
you were previously advised. Analysis for 1 ,2 DCA and EDB did not occur on the
water samples. You are again directed to include these constituents for analysis h
on the groundwater samples. Another sampling event should be scheduled r
immediately. Notify EHD at'least 48 hours prior to the sampling and confirm that 1
 Y v
EHD can be present to witness the procedure. A report of this sampling event
should be submitted by September 1, 2004.
E A survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any other wells within
2000 radial feet of the site still has not been completed. Contact the Department
of Water Resources and the City of Tracy to determine if there are any wells
within 2000 radial feet of the site. Perform a physical search of the area to locate
any wells as needed. Provide the addresses of the wells identified and show
their location on a map. Provide any known construction details and evaluate
any pumping influence with respect to the possibility of contaminant migration
and public and/or environmental health threat of any wells found. Submit a
report of the well survey to EHD by September 1, 2004. `
