PUBLIC HENLTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION "
Karen Furst, M.D_, M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor - Stockton, CA 95202 `ia•e;,
209/468-3420
ALBERT $ & C NAVARRA
OCT 18 2000
2465 w vERNALIS RD
TRACY CA 9537£
RE: CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL Site Code: 1904
385 W GRANTLINE RD
J AC Y CA 95376
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the Letter Report for Environmental Services dated September 14, 2000
prepared by URS Greiner Woodward & Clyde for the above referenced site.
Groundwater samples collected at the site evidence contamination. Further investigation
of groundwater at this site is necessary to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
contamination_
Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg), total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPHd), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and oxygenates
methyl-tert butyl ether and tertiary amyl methyl ether were evidenced in groundwater in
concentrations as high as 2,000 parts per billion (ppb), 20 ppb, 8.2 ppb, 275 ppb, 660
ppb, and 2.9 ppb respectively. The potential for groundwater contaminant migration
from this site is significant. The lateral and vertical extent of groundwater contamination
must be determined.
A complete well survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any other
wells must be conducted within a 2,000 foot radius of this site. Contact the Department
of Water Resources, municipal water suppliers, and any nearby industries for well
information. PHS/EHD well permit records should be researched to identify any wells.
Identify all sources of information in the well survey report. Clearly depict each well
location as it relates to the above referenced site and submit any known construction
details of the wells.
In addition to the literature search described above, a ground-truth physical survey for
wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the site must also be conducted. The location of wells
identified in the physical search must be provided to PHS/EHD, as well as any known
well construction details. All sources of information utilized in the physical well survey
must also be provided to PHS/EHD.
A Division c+d San)R..jquln Cc)ujzty Health Care Services
